Brain Death And Special Circumstances

The patient's current condition or the presence of organ support treatments for efforts to keep the patient alive in this process may cause difficulties to brain death diagnose for clinicians. In this article, information on processes in special conditions such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support, pregnancy, and hypernatremia during the diagnosis of BD is shared.

Kerem Erkalpİstanbul Üniversitesi-Cerrahpaşa, Kardiyoloji Enstitüsü Anesteziyoloji ve Reanimasyon Anabilim Dalı İstanbulBeyin Ölümü tanısının temeli minimal kriterlerle klinik bir durumun tespiti için tanımlanmaktadır. Ancak hastanın mevcut durumu ya da bu süreçte hastayı yaşatma çabaları için organ destek tedavilerinin varlığı klinisyenlere tanı aşamasında zorluk yaratabilir. Bu yazıda, BÖ tanısı aşamasında, ekstrakorporyal membran oksijenasyonu (ECMO) desteği, gebelik, hipernatremi gibi özel durumlardaki süreçler konusunda bilgiler paylaşılmıştır.
