Agriculture-Food Ethics/Policy and Our Future: An Economy-Politic and Beyond Sociological Famework
Hayriye ErbaşAnkara University Faculty of Languages History And GeographyEvery day we come across with terms such as famine, food terror, Frankenstein foods, durable foods, hormone-injected foods or GM foods, and this situation actually shows that the food security and food safety problems related to agriculture-food become more and more important. The problems regarding the use of new technology carry some important environmental risks for the future of human beings and nature itself and the anxiety, which is caused by not knowing what we eat or drink, is increasing day by day. This paper takes the following idea as a starting point: politics, which shapes our world as good or bad, is shaped by an ethical stance. This paper also aims to draw and propose a sociological frame which will enable the food and associated problems to be handled correctly.
On global, national and local levels, this topic has a complex process including production, reproduction, as well as objective and subjective dimensions. Therefore, a frame covering all these dimensions is proposed here. In the proposed frame, it will be tried to show that the actor/individual/micro approach developed via creating awareness notion and the solution suggestions are insufficient by referring to the data of a study from Turkey. It is suggested that the problems can only be solved by a different society design and state understanding that regards safe and adequate food accessibility as a basic human right, rather than a citizen-blind or irrelevant state understanding.
Tarım-Gıda Etiği/Politikası ve Geleceğimiz: Ekonomi-Politik ve Ötesi Sosyolojik bir Çerçeve
Hayriye ErbaşAnkara Üniversitesi Dil ve Tarih - Coğrafya FakültesiHer geçen gün açlık sorunu, gıda terörü, Frankenstein gıdalar, uzun ömürlü gıdalar, hormonlu gıdalar ya da GDO’lu gıdalar gibi kavramlarla daha fazla karşılaşıyor olmamız tarım-gıda ile ilgili gıda güvencesi ve gıda güvenliği sorunlarının daha da önem kazandığını göstermektedir. Yeni teknolojilerin kullanımı insan ve doğanın geleceği açısından önemli çevresel risklere neden olurken, yediğimiz, içtiğimiz ürünlerin ne olduğunu bilememenin verdiği kaygı düzeyi de giderek yükselmektedir. Bu yazı yaşadığımız dünyayı iyi ya da kötü olarak biçimlendiren politikanın etik duruşla biçimlendiği düşüncesinden hareketle esas olarak, gıda ve ilgili sorunların doğru biçimde ele alınmasını sağlayacak sosyolojik bir çerçeve çizme ve önerme amacını taşımaktadır.
Konunun küresel, ulusal ve yerel düzlemde üretim ve yeniden üretim boyutlarının yanı sıra hem nesnel hem öznel boyutları olan karmaşık bir süreç olması nedeni ile makalede tüm bu boyutları içeren bir çerçeve önerilmektedir. Bu öneride, Türkiye’de yapılan bir çalışmanın verilerine göndermede bulunularak özellikle farkındalık yaratma üzerinden geliştirilen aktör/birey/mikro yaklaşım ve çözüm önerilerinin yetersiz olduğu ortaya konulmaktadır. Sorunların ancak vatandaş-körü ya da kayıtsız devlet (irrelevant state) anlayışı yerine, sağlıklı ve yeterli gıdaya erişimi bir temel insan hakkı olarak gören farklı bir toplum tasarımı ve devlet anlayışı ile çözülebileceği düşüncesi öne çıkarılmaktadır.
