Ethical Attitude and Affecting Factors in Nursing Care of Nurses Working in Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics

INTRODUCTION: The objective of this study is to determine the ethical attitudes of nurses working in the obstetrics and gynecology clinics and the factors affecting those attitudes in nursing.
METHODS: This study was planned in a cross-sectional type and conducted in a multi-center. 64 nurses working in obstetrics and gynecology clinics participated in the study and data were collected using the “Personal Information Form” and “Ethical Attitude Scale for Nursing Care”. Ethics committee and institution permission was obtained for the research.
RESULTS: 62.5% of the nurses received training on ethics. It was determined that 31.3% of the nurses frequently encounter ethical problems and 45.4% of them have difficulties in solving ethical problems. There is a statistically significant difference between the age, working year, work year of the participants in the obstetrics clinic, their exposure to ethical problems, the status of the participants being educated on ethics and their mean scores from the scale (p<0.05). There was no significant difference between the educational status and the ability to solve ethical problems and the total score mean.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: In this study, it was observed that their ethical attitudes were affected by the age of the nurses, the total year of work as a nurse, the working year in the obstetrics clinic, the situation of encountering ethical problems and the status of receiving ethical education, whereas the education level did not. In addition to having a rich theoretical content in the training of nursing ethics, strengthening it with applications can be effective in increasing nurses’ awareness and their ability to solve problems.
Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum Kliniklerinde Çalışan Hemşirelerin Hemşirelik Bakımında Etik Tutumu ve Etkileyen Faktörler

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Bu araştırmanın amacı, kadın hastalıkları ve doğum kliniklerinde çalışan hemşirelerin hemşirelik bakımında etik tutumları ve bu tutumları etkileyen faktörleri belirlemektir.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Bu çalışma kesitsel tipte planlanmıştır ve çok merkezli olarak yürütülmüştür. Araştırmaya kadın hastalıkları ve doğum kliniklerinde çalışan 64 hemşire katılmıştır. Veriler “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve “Hemşirelik Bakımında Etik Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırma için etik kurul ve kurum izinleri alınmıştır.
BULGULAR: Hemşirelerin %62,5’i etik ile ilgili eğitim almışlardır. Hemşirelerin %31,3’ünün sık sık etik sorunlar ile karşılaştıkları ve %45,4’ünün etik sorunları çözümlemede sıkıntı yaşadıkları belirlenmiştir. Katılımcıların yaş, çalışma yılı, kadın doğum kliniğinde çalışma yılı, etik sorunlarla karşılaşma durumları ve etik konusunda eğitim alma durumu ile ölçekten aldıkları puan ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık göstermektedir (p<0.05). Eğitim durumu ve etik sorunları çözebilme durumu ile ölçek toplam puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı bir fark görülmemiştir.
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Bu çalışmada, hemşirelerin yaşı, hemşire olarak toplam çalışma yılı, kadın doğum kliniğinde çalışma yılı etik sorunlarla karşılaşma durumları ve etik eğitimi alma durumlarının etik tutumları üzerinde etkili olduğu, eğitim durumunun ise etkili olmadığı görülmüştür. Hemşirelik etiği konusunda verilen eğitimlerin teorik yönden zengin bir içeriğe sahip olmasının yanında uygulamalar ile de pekiştirilmesinin, hemşirelerin farkındalığının ve sorunları çözümleyebilme becerilerinin arttırılmasında etkili olabilir.
