Head Transplant: Is It Service or Experiment?
Serap YılmazDepartment Of Medical History And Ethics, Uludag University, Bursa, TurkeyThroughout history, “head transplant” operation has been tested several times on animals; but a positive result has not been achieved. In 2015, it was first put forward by Sergio Canavero with the claim that “it will be applied on living human”; but it was carried out on a dead donor in 2017. In this article, it is aimed to evaluate the debates that brought the claim of live-in-head transplantation and the discussions made by the exact opposite of this claim in terms of medical ethics.

Serap YılmazBursa Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Tıp Tarihi ve Etik Anabilim DalıTarih boyunca birçok kez hayvanlar üzerinde denenmiş; ancak olumlu bir sonuca ulaşılamamış olan “kafa nakli” operasyonu, 2015 yılında Dr. Sergio Canavero tarafından “canlı insan üzerinde uygulanacak” iddiası ile ilk kez ortaya atılmış; ancak 2017 yılında ölü donör üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu makalede canlı insanda kafa nakli operasyonu iddiasının beraberinde getirmiş olduğu tartışmalar ve bu iddianın aksinin gerçekleştirilmesi ile oluşan tartışmaların tıp etiği açısından değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.
