Premenopozal ve Postmenopozal Kadınlarda Osteoporoz Bilgi ve Farkındalık Düzeyinin Karşılaştırılması

Giriş: Osteoporoz (OP) postmenopozal kadınlarda sık görülen önemli bir halk sağlığı sorunudur. Hastalıktan korunmak için kemik sağlığını destekleyen yaşam şekillerinin bilinmesi önemlidir.
Amaç: Amacımız premenopozal ve postmenopozal kadınlarda OP bilgi ve farkındalık düzeyini karşılaştırmaktı.
Yöntem: Çalışmaya 100 premenopozal kadın (ortalama yaş 38.12 ± 8.07 yıl; 19-50 yıl aralığında) ve 100 postmenopozal kadın (ortalama yaş 59.05 ± 8.55 yıl; 51-85 yıl aralığında) gönüllü alındı. Katılımcıların sosyo-demografik özellikleri kaydedildi. Osteoporoz Bilgi Testi (OBT), Osteoporoz Sağlık İnanç Ölçeği (OSİÖ), OP bilgisine yönelik sorular ve risk faktörleri değerlendirildi.
Bulgular: Premenopozal ve postmenopozal kadınların OBT ve OSİÖ total ve alt grup skorları karşılaştırıldığında istatistiksel anlamlı fark saptanmadı (OSİÖ-duyarlılık algısı alt grubu hariç) (p>0.05). Postmenopozal katılımcı grubunda, osteoporoz tanısı alan ve almayan bireylerin OBT, OSİÖ total ve pek çok alt grup skorları karşılaştırıldığında istatistiksel anlamlı fark saptanmadı (p>0.05). Gruplar arasında OP bilgisine ilişkin soruların cevapları benzerdi (p>0.05). Ailesinde OP öyküsü olan ve olmayan katımcıların OBT ve OSİÖ total skorları arasında istatistiksel anlamlı fark saptanmadı (p>0.05).
Sonuç: Premenopozal ve postmenopozal kadınların OP bilgi ve farkındalık düzeyi benzer bulunmuştur. OP tanısı alan postmenopozal kadınların, osteoporoz tanısı almayan postmenopozal kadınlara göre OP bilgi düzeyi ve farkındalığı açısından üstünlüğü bulunmamaktadır. Ailesinde OP öyküsü olması, bireyin OP bilgi ve farkındalığına katkı sağlamamaktadır.
The Comparison of Knowledge Level and Awareness of Osteoporosis between Premenopausal and Postmenopausal Women

Introduction: Osteoporosis (OP) is an important common public health problem among postmenopausal women. Life style which support the bone health must be known for prevention of the disease.
Objective: Our aim was to compare the knowledge and awareness of OP in premenopausal and postmenopausal women.
Methods: One hundred premenopausal women (mean age 38.12±8.07 years; range 19 to 50 years) and 100 postmenopausal women (mean age 59.05±8.55 years; range 51 to 85 years) volunteers were enrolled in this study. The socio demographic characteristics of the participants were recorded. Osteoporosis Knowledge Test (OKT), Osteoporosis Health Belief Scale (OHBS) and the questionnaire including questions about OP knowledge and risk factors were assessed.
Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the OKT and OHBS total and subgroups scores of premenopausal and postmenopausal women (expect for OHBS- susceptibility subgroup) (p>0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the OKT, OHBS total and many subgroups scores of the patients with and without OP in the postmenopausal women (p>0.05). The answers to questions about OP knowledge were similar between groups (p>0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the OKT and OHBS total scores of the participants with and without family history of OP (p>0.05).
Conclusion: Premenopausal and postmenopausal women's knowledge and awareness of OP were similar. Postmenopausal women diagnosed with OP have no superiority in the level of knowledge and awareness of OP compared to postmenopausal women who are not diagnosed with OP. Having a family history of OP does not contribute to an individual's knowledge and awareness of OP.
