Absence of the Left Pulmonary Artery

Unilateral absence of pulmonary artery is a rare malformation that can present as an isolated lesion. A 38 year-old male was admitted to the hospital with dispnea, hemoptysis. Physical examination revealed no abnormalites, but there was “left destroyed lung” apperance on chest radiography. Absence of the left pulmonary artery was demonstrated by arteriography of the pulmonary arteries.
