Harlequin ichthyosis is a genodermatosis characterized by an extreme thickening of the fetal skin. It is the most severe form of autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis. Massive, horny shell of dense scales and contraction abnormalities of the eyes, ears and mouth are main characteristic features of the affected newborns. Harlequin ichthyosis was uniformly fatal. Intense supportive care with appropriate topical treatment and systemic retinoid therapy in the neonatal period changed the fate of patients. Here, we representing a Harlequin ichthyosis case which is successfully treated with acitretin.

Harlequin İktiyozis; fetal derinin aşırı kalınlaşması ile karakterize genodermatozdur. Otozomal resesif konjenital iktiyozların en şiddetli formudur. Masif, boynuzsu kabuk ve pullanmalar ile tüm vücut cildi etkilenir. Harlequin İktiyozis ölümcül seyredebilmektedir. Uygun topikal tedavi, yoğun bakım desteği ve acitretin tedavisi ile hastaların kaderi değişmektedir. Acitretin ile başarılı şekilde tedavi edilen bir olgu sunulmaktadır.
