İnflamatuvar barsak hastalığı olan hastalarda COVID-19 pandemisinin etkilerinin değerlendirilmesi

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: COVİD-19 salgını özellikle tüm dünyada kronik hastalıkları olan insanları endişelendirmeye devam etmektedir. Bu çalışmada COVİD-19 pandemisi süresince IBH hastalarının hastalık durumlarının ve medikal tedavilerinin nasıl etkilendiğini, enfeksiyon riski konusundaki algılarını, hastalarımız arasındaki COVİD-19 sıklığını ve seyrini araştırmayı amaçladık.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: IBH ile takip edilen hastaların pandemi süresince hastalıklarının seyri, medikal tedavi durumları, COVİD-19 geçiren IBH hastalarında hastalık seyri detaylı bir şekilde telefon ile sorgulandı.
BULGULAR: Çalışmaya 62 (%60,8) ÜK, 40(%39,2) CH olmak üzere toplam 102 IBH hastası alındı. Hastaların %52,9’u IBH hastalığının COVİD-19 için risk oluşturduğunu düşünmekteydi. Pandemi sürecinde çeşitli nedenlerle hastaların %18,6’sı ilaçlarını düzenli kullanmamıştı. Hastalık aktivasyonu olan hastaların %64,28’i COVİD-19 kapma riski nedeniyle hastaneye gidememiştir ve %4,90’ı COVİD-19’a yakalanmıştır.
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Pandemi süresince hem düzenli ilaç kullanımının etkilenmesi, hem de hastaneye başvurmadaki çekinceler IBH hastalığının seyrini etkileyebilir. Bu nedenle hastalık seyrindeki değişimleri yönetmeyi destekleyecek güncellenmiş eylem planları, hem hekimler hem de hastalar için sürecin daha sağlıklı yönetilmesine yardımcı olacaktır.
Evaluation of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in patients with inflammatory bowel disease

INTRODUCTION: The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic continues to worry especially people with chronic diseases, the entire world. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we aimed to investigate how the disease states and medical treatments of IBH (inflammatory bowel disease) patients are affected, their risky perceptions, and the frequency and course of COVID-19 among our patients.
METHODS: During the pandemic, the course of the disease, medical treatment status of the patients followed with IBH, and the course of the disease in IBH patients who had COVID-19 were questioned by phone.
RESULTS: A total of 102 IBH patients, 62 UC (ulcerative colitis) and 40 CD (Crohn disease) were included in the study. 52.9% of the patients thought that having IBH was a risk for being COVID-19. During the pandemic process, it was found that 18.6% of the patients did not use their medication regularly for various reasons. 64.28% of the patients with disease activation could not go to the hospital due to the risk of getting COVID-19, and 4.90% caught COVID-19.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: During the pandemic, both the regular use of medicines and the reservations to admit to the hospital may affect the course of IBH. Therefore, updated action plans to support managing changes in the course of the disease will help manage the process in a healthier way for both physicians and patients.
